How EDDCS Works


What is EDDCS?

Electronic Download Delivery Confirmation Service (EDDCS) provides third party delivery confirmation to vendors and publishers of digital goods purchased and delivered through the Internet.  Our mission is to provide you with the tools you need to deter and prevent the theft of your downloadable products. 



How does EDDCS work?

After your customer completes their purchase through your EDDCS enabled delivery software a delivery confirmation number is provided by the EDDCS system.  When your customer proceeds to the download process, our proprietary patent pending delivery system monitors and tracks the bytes sent to your customer.  Once all bytes have been successfully delivered the delivery status is updated within the EDDCS system.  This process takes place securely behind the scenes, and no additional software or plug-in installation is required by your customer.  Our service allows you to keep your files on your server so uploading to a third party server is never required. 



How does EDDCS benefit my company?

  • Increases your monthly revenue by reducing refunds.  Prior to EDDCS, digital merchants had no way of knowing if a customer received their purchase.  Using EDDCS adds a powerful tool to your refund process.  When your customer makes a refund request you now have the ability to grant or deny the refund based on actual delivery, rather than just taking your customer's word for it.  If the customer received their product you can deny the refund after you have verified delivery through EDDCS.  If a customer requests a refund based on non-delivery, and you see the customer has not downloaded the product, you can work with your customer to resolve the issue before giving a refund.  This can reduce the number of refunds granted per month, which will increase your monthly revenue.


  • Gives you peace of mind.  EDDCS offers digital merchants peace of mind because you will be able to actually see what downloads have been fully delivered to your customers, and which ones have not.  This comes in very handy when a customer informs you that they have not received their purchase.  When an issue such as this arises you simply log into EDDCS to check whether or not the item has been downloaded.  If EDDCS shows a "delivered" status you can inform your customer that EDDCS has confirmed delivery and give all pertinent delivery information regarding that sale.  If your customer has not downloaded the product you can simply send it again or offer a refund, which ever your business model allows.  In the past you had no way of proving a download has been delivered, but with EDDCS you now have the proof you need.

  • Can help with fraud investigation.  Not only are you secure in knowing that your digital product has been delivered, but you can also share that information with anyone requesting it.  From the EDDCS home page, any third party can enter a delivery confirmation number to view the delivery status of an order.  This is a critical tool for third party fraud investigation.


  • Powerful process analysis tool.  As all business owners know, there is always room for improvement within any company.  For digital merchants, EDDCS can be an extremely powerful tool to help you analyze how your system of delivery is currently working.  You can use the information provided in your EDDCS account to monitor and track the number of delivered products against non-delivered products to see the success ratio of your delivery processes.  This can be used to assess your delivery process in the event that you have a high level of non-delivered items each month, which will allow you to make any necessary changes to improve your level of customer service.


Where do I get EDDCS enabled software?

If you are already using software to deliver your digital products the first thing you should consider is contacting the company you purchased the software from to see if they have a newer version available that is EDDCS enabled.  You can also find EDDCS enabled software products on the EDDCS home page.  You can also search Google for supported software.  If you can't find the software you need please contact us and we will refer you to the appropriate source.

Do I need to be a computer genius to use this service?

Absolutely not.  EDDCS has been designed for simple integration into your existing business model.  Once you sign up for an account and configure your EDDCS enabled software product everything works seamlessly behind the scenes.



What products do you offer delivery confirmation for?

EDDCS works for music files, video clips, movies, eBooks, software products, document downloads, and any other legally tendered digital item that is downloaded from your server to your customer.



Do I have to upload my digital products to your server for delivery?

No.  Your products remain on your server at all times, and you never have to upload them to EDDCS for any reason.



Who can view the delivery confirmation of an item?

Anyone can view the delivery confirmation of an item from the EDDCS home page, providing they have access to a valid delivery confirmation number.  You do not need to have a registered account with EDDCS to view delivery confirmation.



How do I retrieve delivery confirmation numbers?

There are multiple ways to retrieve delivery confirmation numbers that have been assigned to you.  One way is log into your EDDCS account.  You can view them by "pending" status and by "delivered" status by clicking on the relevant link.  You can also search by the delivery confirmation number or by the custom reference value assigned to each transaction.  The reference value assigned will be dependent on which EDDCS enabled software tool you are using.  It could be an order number, payment transaction receipt number, or any other value that links the order to the delivery confirmation.



What details about my sales and customers do you store on your server?

We store the IP Address that your customer uses to download your product, and any other customer field that your EDDCS enabled software provides.  This could be a sales order number, transaction number, or any identifier connected with a sale that is defined by the company that creates your EDDCS enabled software.



I run multiple web sites that sell digital goods.  Do I need a unique EDDCS account for each site?

No.  You can use a single EDDCS account for all of the web sites you own.
